I learned something new today.
"In jail or prison, 60% of all sexual violence against inmates is perpetrated by the institution’s staff."
I had always assumed it was mostly done by other prisoners. This belief is perpetuated in media fairly often. Nasty Nate comes to mind with his naughty jungle of love.
I shouldn't be, but I was a bit surprised to find out it's mostly done by staff. Though I am recalling now reading about women being subject to more invasive body searches supposedly over the worry they were hiding things in their lady purses.
Maybe the staff would face more scrutiny if more of us knew they were largely the ones committing crimes and sexually assaulting people.

This is news to me as well. I assumed sexual abuse came from that side but I did not expect the majority of the abuse to be perpetuated by staff.
Sensationalism
I think that's a common misconception and I think if we can spread awareness perhaps they will face more scrutiny.
